The Therapeutic Haven of an Aspiring Writer
“Writing is a form of personal freedom. It frees us from the mass identity we see in the making all around us. In the end, writers will write not to be outlaw heroes of some underculture but mainly to save themselves, to survive as individuals.” - Don Dellilo

The Goal
There are times in life when you just get tired of dreaming. It's frustrating that something can be so close, and still yet so far away. You feel like you deserve it, perhaps you've earned it but still it is beyond reach. You think it will make you content. That maybe it will fill that whole that makes itself apparent everyday. Though I am so angry with myself for pining and so desperately craving it, I am still reaching; although I know it won't keep me satisfied forever and soon I will want again. It is exceedingly important to one's self esteem to never give up. The day will come when that thirst will be quenched and another will arise within your soul. This is what keeps us busy on earth; desire. Giving more effort towards that dream everyday; patience. The universe has already decided, your day will come as long as you're still chasing it.

Rest & Peace
It's summer. Relax and enjoy yourself. Never get so busy that you're speeding through time. Before you know it days will turn into years. Why are we racing time when it will inevitably win? Slow time down, don't let it run you. Spend it like it matters and on people who matter.. Strip time down and take advantage of it. You have that opportunity now. The days are longer, there's so much more we can do. Let's do something you always wanted to. Accept love and fire it right back today. Happy Fourth of July, make this your day.
Live it.
Live it.

The Pursuit of Happiness
Everyday at work, there is an older West Indian man who always talks to me as he cleans the building. Whether it be his smile or his way of bringing out mine, he always brightens up my day. He makes his way around the building collecting trash, cleaning bathrooms and vaccuuming. I find it amazing that someone could have so much joy in doing this kind of work everyday. Still he comes in every morning and spreads his joy around our workplace. This humbles me. I think of how quickly I am to complain about miniscule aspects of my life that aren't going quite as I planned. There is so much to be thankful for. Seeing him has taught me to be more positive, because my happiness depends on it. The more you dwell on negativity the longer it will haunt you. The more you feed your depression the longer it will linger. The more you embrace your loneliness the longer it will lie with you bed. Find joy in everything you do and I pray that each of us will learn to be that beacon of light to our communities, families, friends and co-workers.

Intelligence
I’m learning as I grow older that intelligence comes from experience.
You may think it is found in literature or mathematics, but those are
just glimpses of a bigger picture. Intelligence is found in trial and
error. A book, for instance, may be rewritten several times before it is
published and sent out to print. The same can be said for the laws of
science. Scientists conduct experiments to test theories. Cancer, a
villain of humanity, may be fatal but someday we will discover a cure. I
call that intelligence at it’s finest. You see, intelligence cannot be
achieved over night. Remember the saying “if at first you don’t succeed,
try try again”? Although we may cram and drill ourselves on information
to simply recall for one single test, intelligence calls for time. Time
to test, to fail and to learn from those failures. It calls for growth
and perseverance. Intelligence is not based on how well you score, but
on the maturity of the individual. Being able to acknowledge mistakes
that you’ve made in your life, and not making the same ones. Sharing
those truths about what you’ve learned with someone else to possibly
lighten their load. Experience. One day I hope to become a well seasoned
writer, but before I begin to consider myself amongst the likes of many
I look forward enduring more seasons. Good and bad. There will be many
more lessons to learn. I hope one day to travel the world, so I can
understand culture and share the similarities between us.. mankind that
is. We’re more alike than we think. Intelligence. I think it comes with
age. I’m far off… but closer everyday. However, an intelligent being
knows that learning never ends and is thrilled by the very thought of
it. May life never be dull.
